Cavs and Ole Miss Suspended at CWS

Virginia's stay in Omaha has been extended at least one more day -- despite only playing one full inning Friday night.

UVa's game against Ole Miss was suspended in the top of the second inning Friday night because of a heavy thunderstorm that descended on TD Ameritrade Park. The game will resume at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, with UVa advancing to the championship round of the College World Series with a win.

That game will be followed by Texas and Vanderbilt in the finale of Bracket One play at 8 p.m. Saturday. If the Rebels beat UVa Saturday afternoon, the two teams will meet again on Sunday, with the winner advancing to the championship round.

Derek Fisher reached on an error to lead off the top of the second, followed by a sharply-hit single to left field by Brandon Downes. But the umpires cleared the field before another pitch was thrown, and the storm hit about 10 minutes later.

The teams will both announce pitching plans Saturday morning. UVa starter Josh Sborz threw just seven innings in the first. Jeremy Massie threw 28 pitches in two-plus innings for the Rebels.
