In the two months since being drafted by the Cleveland Indians, Kyle Crockett has more promotions than earned runs allowed.
On Wednesday -- exactly two months after he was taken by the Indians in Round 4 of this year's draft -- Crockett made his Class AA debut with the Akron Aeros, giving up one hit and striking out two in one scoreless inning.
In Akron, Crockett is reunited with former UVa teammate Will Roberts.
Wednesday marked Crockett's second promotion in the past two weeks. He began his pro career with the short-season Mahoning Valley Scrappers, where he struck out 16 and gave up five hits in 9.1 scoreless innings of work. On July 23 he moved up to the Class A Lake County Captains, where he did give up an earned run -- on a solo homer -- but also struck out seven and walked just one in five innings pitched.
Following Wednesday's appearance, Crockett now has a 0.59 ERA in 13 pro games, with a 25-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 10 hits allowed in 15.1 innings.
