David Passerell Wins Third Jefferson Cup Title

David Passerell shot a final-round 70 to win his third Boar's Head Jefferson Cup title Sunday at Birdwood Golf Course.

Passerell finished the three-day tournament at nine under.

"I figured it was going to be a tight race all the way down to the end so I never really got ahead of myself and really just tried to hit one shot at a time and figured I'd add them up after 54 holes and see what happens," Passerell said after his win.

Charlottesville City Champion Phil Mahone finished second at two under. He fired a final-round 74.

University of Virginia redshirt freshman Nick Tremps came in third at two over. He shot a solid 72 on Sunday.

But the story all weekend was Passerell. After back-to-back 67's, he entered the final day three shots up on Mahone.

"I feel great about it," Passerell said. "I'm proud of myself and it's nice to be back in this position."
