Virginia’s Julia Elbaba was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday. In addition, Cavalier freshman Stephanie Nauta joined Elbaba on the All-ACC Women’s Tennis Team.
Elbaba, who is ranked No. 12 in the latest ITA singles rankings, becomes the first Cavalier to earn ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Year accolades. Elbaba leads Virginia with 31 singles wins, including 15 victories in dual action. She is 31-9 overall and 10-1 in ACC dual play.
Nauta is No. 73 in the latest singles rankings and is second on the team with 27 singles wins. Nauta is 27-9 overall and 14-5 in dual action.
Elbaba and Nauta are the 12th and 13th Virginia women’s tennis players to earn All-ACC recognition.
