New Virgina Offensive Coordinator Steve Fairchild was calling the shots at Mike London Football Camp Tuesday night, where the focus was on the quarterbacks. Fairchild and the UVa staff worked with about 100 young signal callers at the George Welsh Indoor Practice Facility.
There are a few quarterbacks that Fairchild can't work with, until training camp begins in August -- the ones on the UVa roster.
Once again, the Cavaliers are entering preseason camp without an established starter. The post-spring depth listed the starter as David Watford "or" Greyson Lambert "or" Phillip Sims. That list has been narrowed to two, after Sims was ruled ineligible on May 31.
"You know just can't worry about what's out of your control, I guess," Fairchild said of the off-season changes. "I mean we've got some good kids, we'll have good quarterback play here."
Fairchild says he's proud of the way Watford and Lambert have handled the change, and handled themselves in the off-season.
"Just the way they've taken the workouts on their own, we obviously can't be out there with them, and just kind of initiated a real positive atmosphere out there and it seems like things are going very well."
"I really like our guys here at UVa. They're good players, but really good people, really hard working guys, good students. It's just a fun room to coach."
