It was a day that was a few months in the making for Fluvanna seniors Kelsey Schlein and Carly Csapo. Both Fluco swim team members committed to continue their careers in the pool during college in March. On Monday, they finally put that commitment down on paper.
Schlein will dive at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. She's only been diving since her sophomore year of high school, and says she's ready to get more experience in the pool.
"I'm most excited for just getting in the pool and practices, and getting to know the team and meshing with them," she said.
Schlein also said she's looking forward to traveling with the team once season starts. "This is our first year in the Patriot League, so we'll be against some new teams and that's really exciting."
Csapo is headed to Radford, where she'll swim for the Highlanders. The Fluco senior chose Radford over Mary Washington, after deciding to swim in Divison-I in college.
Like her teammate, Csapo also says she's looking forward to traveling and competing.
"Traveling is always going to be fun with the team," she said. "I have some really close friends on the team, and that will be great to have them around me the whole time, and just the bond that I had with them from my recruiting trip and from years past, some of them I knew, just makes it all what I'm waiting for."
