Former Cavalier Minnifield Cut by Redskins

The Washington Redskins have cut their roster down to 53 heading into the start of the regular season.

For the second season in a row, the Redskins cut former UVa cornerback Chase Minnifield. Last season, Minnifield was placed on the practice squad and eventually added to the teams active roster.

In total, nine players were cut on Saturday, including kicker Zach Hocker, who lost the starting battle to Kai Forbath. Also cut were linebacker Everette Brown, offensive lineman Maurice Hurt, safety Phillip Thomas, receiver Nick Williams and running backs Evan Royster, Lache Seastrunk and Chris Thompson.
