The Virginia women's soccer team wasted little time getting its highly-anticipated season off to a good start Friday night.
Danielle Colaprico got the seventh-ranked Cavaliers on the board in just the second minute Friday night, as UVa opened the year with a 4-2 win over VCU in the Klöckner Classic.
Colaprico was the first of four different Cavaliers to score goals Friday night. Emily Sonnett broke a 1-1 tie in the 26th minute to give UVa a 2-1 lead at the half, then Molly Menchel and Brittany Ratcliffe each scored in the second half. Ratcliffe's goal was the first of her UVa career.
Sonnett also had an assist, while Morgan Brian added two assists. Danielle DeLisle and Churchill O'Connell each played a half in net for UVa, giving up a goal apiece.
