Freshman Fioravanti Leaves UVa Women's Basketball Team

Forward Amanda Fioravanti's college basketball career at Virginia lasted eight games.

Coach Joanne Boyle announced Thursday morning that Fioravanti was leaving the UVa program, and planned to transfer. Fioravanti appeared in eight games this season, averaging 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.

Fioravanti last appeared for the Cavaliers in their December 21 win against Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla. She left the team prior to last weekend's Cavalier Classic at John Paul Jones Arena.

The 6-1 Fioravanti was the Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year as a senior at Good Counsel High School last year, where she average 19.1 points and 8.2 rebounds.
