Georgia Tech Hangs 95 on 'Hoos in Loss

The Virginia women's basketball team couldn't take advantage of an extra day to prepare for its visit to Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech made its first seven attempts from beyond the three-point line, and never trailed Friday night, beating the Cavaliers 95-76 in Atlanta. Those 95 points are the most allowed by UVa in Joanne Boyle's three seasons as coach.

“We didn't come out and defend," Boyle said afterward. "We gave them easy looks at the basket. On the road, you need to set the tone early in a game and tonight we did not.”

Boyle's team never led, and with the loss dropped to 5-6 in the ACC, and 12-12 overall. Georgia Tech improved to 17-8 overall and 7-5 in the league.

Freshman guard Kaela Davis led the Yellow Jackets with 27 points, including 23 in the first half. UVa junior Sarah Imovbioh matched her career high with 21 points to lead the Cavaliers.

The game was originally scheduled or Thursday night, but was postponed until Friday earlier in the week because of weather-related travel issues for UVa.
