Gosselin Gets the Call from Braves

Phil Gosselin is the latest product of the Virginia baseball program to get called up to the big leagues.

The Atlanta Braves announced Friday afternoon that they were purchasing Gosselin's contract from Triple-a Gwinnett. The Braves took Gosselin out of UVa in Round 5 of the 2010 draft.

Gosselin will be in uniform for Friday night's game against the Nationals.

Gosselin has appeared in 106 games at two minor league stops this season, hitting a combined .258 with three homers and 34 RBI. He's hitting .277 in 47 games at Gwinnett.

Gosselin becomes the 32nd former Cavalier to earn a promotion to the majors. He ranks among the program's all-time leaders with 145 career RBI, 50 doubles, and 48 stolen bases.
