Hokies' Green Named ACC's Top Player

Virginia Tech senior Erick Green, who finished the regular season as the nation's leading scorer, has been named the ACC player of the year.

Green received 38 votes, beating Miami guard Shane Larkin (23 votes) and Duke forward Mason Plumlee (12 votes) for the award. Virginia's Joe Harris (two votes) and Florida State's Michael Snaer (one vote) were the other players to receive votes.

Green scored a school-record 786 points this season for the Hokies, averaging a nation-leading 25.4 ppg. He's the first Virginia Tech player to win ACC player of the year honors, and the first player from a team with a losing conference record since Len Bias in 1986.

Other ACC individual award winners announced Tuesday included Miami's Jim Larranaga (coach of the year) and Durand Scott (defensive player of the year), and Boston College's Olivier Hanson (rookie of the year).
