Months after winning a doubles title together at the NCAA Championship, former UVa tennis player Jarmere Jenkins and UVa sophomore Mac Styslinger faced off in the Charlottesville Men's Pro Challenger Monday at the Boar's Head Sports Club.
Jenkins defeated his former teammate in straight sets, winning 6-3, 6-3. He moves on to the second round and will play another former Cavalier, Teddy Angelinos, who upset the sixth-seeded Alex Kuznetsov 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4.
Virginia junior Mitchell Frank is also moving on to the second round, after beating Rik De Voest in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
The tournament's No. 2 seed Somdev Devvarman, another former Cavalier, will be in action Tuesday, taking on Samuel Groth.
