'Hoos Focused On Matchup With Miami

With their matchup against No. 4 Syracuse looming, "taking things one game at a time" is a sports cliché that is ringing true for the No. 11 Virginia men's basketball team right now.

The Cavaliers host the Orange on Saturday in a showdown of the top two teams in the ACC. Before that, they'll face a 14-13 Miami team on Wednesday at John Paul Jones Arena.

"I think our guys would be foolish to even think past anybody," head coach Tony Bennett said Monday. "We've been in tight games the majority of the games, or been down the last handful of games. We're trying to be as ready as we can, and each game is significant for us as we near the end."

With just three regular season games left, the 'Hoos are 14-1 in the conference and sitting alone atop the ACC standings. They have won 11 straight games dating back to Jan. 18, but they still aren't talked about as much as some of the teams below them in the standings.

"There's so much excitement in ACC basketball when Carolina and Duke play, when Syracuse and Duke have that unbelievable rematch," Bennett said. "That's good for the conference, that's good for the exposure. Whether they talk about Virginia or not, I could care less. I just want to keep playing good ball, and our guys understand that. That's how they're built, that's who they are."

UVa has won 16 consecutive conference games at home, which is the longest active streak in the ACC and tied for the longest mark in program history. They'll have a chance to set a new record when they host the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
