'Hoos Hoping to Put Losing Seasons Behind Them

The Virginia football team will get a fresh start in a few weeks, when the team opens training camp on Aug. 4. After finishing 8-5 in 2012, the Cavaliers have struggled, going 6-18 in the past two years.

"Of course you address it, and you talk about it," senior running back Kevin Parks said of the Cavs' 2-10 season in 2013. "At the same time, the past is the past. You can't relive that. All we can do now is just move forward and try to do better this year."

The 'Hoos open up the 2014 season at home on Aug. 30 against UCLA. Their last win came at Scott Stadium on Sept. 21, 2013, before they ended the season on a nine-game losing streak.

"We try to let the past be the past," said senior safety Anthony Harris. "Obviously there's times when if we don't see something going in the right direction or somebody makes a mistake or not working as hard as we think they should be working, you kind of refer to things like that, just to remind guys.

"It's not always the positive things that happen that make you who you are or push you in the direction that you're going to go."
