The Virginia softball team won its second consecutive extra inning game, defeating George Washington, 2-1 in 10 innings. The Cavaliers improved to 12-12 on the season with the win.
Sophomore Megan Harris singled down the left field line in the 10th to score Taylor Williams and give the Cavaliers the win.
Senior Melanie Mitchell struck out 16 Colonials in eight innings of work, allowing just four hits and one run. Freshman Aimee Chapdelaine threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win (3-4).
The Cavaliers travel to College Park, Md., for a three-game series with ACC rival Maryland March 23-24.
