The Virginia men's basketball team will make its highly-anticipated return to the court on November 14 in Harrisonburg.
James Madison officially announced Wednesday morning that basketball season will begin with a UVa visit to the Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off against the Dukes. The game will mark UVa's first visit to Harrisonburg since 1982.
The Cavaliers are coming off the program's best season in two decades -- a 30-7 performance that included ACC regular season and tournament titles and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where the Wahoos lost 61-59 to Michigan State at Madison Square Garden. UVa finished last season ranked No. 10 in the country in the postseason coaches poll.
UVa opened last season with a 61-41 win over the Dukes at John Paul Jones Arena last November. With that win, The Cavaliers improved to 9-0 all-time against JMU.
The opener at JMU is the latest non-conference road game announced for the Cavaliers this upcoming season. The Wahoos will travel to Maryland for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on December 3, and visit VCU on December 6.
The ACC is expected to announce UVa's full basketball schedule later this month.
