Former Virginia guard Paul Jesperson is officially a member of the basketball program at Northern Iowa.
UNI announced the addition of Jesperson in a release on Tuesday. The junior had revealed on Twitter last month that he had picked the Panthers as his landing spot over Southern California.
Jesperson will have two years of NCAA eligibility remaining after sitting out the upcoming 2013-14 season. He started 33 of 35 games for the Cavaliers this past season, averaging 4.7 points in 25.7 minutes.
Jesperson arrived at UVa in 2011 as the reigning state player of the year in Wisconsin. He averaged 1.5 points in 10.5 minutes off the bench in 21 games as a freshman.
UNI is coming off a 21-15 season that ended with a loss to Weber State in the semifinals of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. The Panthers -- who have had five straight 20-win seasons, and played in five straight postseason tournaments -- finished third in the Missouri Valley Conference in 2012-13.
