Jones on Watch List for Hornung Award

Perry Jones ran for nine touchdowns, caught three scores, and even threw a touchdown pass for the Virginia football team last season. Now the rising senior running back is being recognized for that versatility. On Thursday, Jones was one of 49 players included on the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award. Established in 2010, the Hornung Award goes to the most versatile player in major college football each season. Jones led the Cavaliers with 915 rushing yards in 2011. His 48 catches were second on the team, while his 506 receiving yards ranked third. He earned honorable mention All-ACC recognition after the season. Jones is one of four players from ACC schools on the Hornung Award watch list. He's joined by Clemson's Sammy Watkins, Orwin Smith of Georgia Tech, and Michael Camparano of Wake Forest. Finalists for the award will be announced in early December, and the winner will be picked in early January.
