Kicker Backs Out of UVa Commitment

The list of players committed to Virginia's football recruiting class of 2014 is now a player shorter.

Three-star kicker Gary Wunderlich announced on Twitter on Thursday that he was backing out of his verbal commitment to the Cavaliers, and switching that commitment to Mississippi.

"After much thought and prayer I've decided to decommit from UVA. I want to apologize to UVA coaches, fans and current commits for leaving," Wunderlich tweeted Thursday morning, revealing in a later tweet that he was instead heading to Ole Miss.

Rivals rates Wunderlich as a rare three-star kicker, and the top recruit in the country at that position. He originally committed to UVa in early April.

With Wunderlich decommitting, the Cavaliers' recruiting class of 2014 sits at nine players.
