Local Players Meet on NFL Field

The Albemarle and Monticello football teams will renew their rivalry in a Jefferson District matchup on Friday at Monticello High School. On Sunday in Jacksonville, a former Patriot and a former Mustang met on an NFL field.

Former Monticello Mustang and current Jaguars wide receiver Mike Brown led his team with 120 yards on 5 catches. Albemarle alum Nick Novak is now the kicker for the San Diego Chargers, who beat the winless Jaguars 24-6 on Sunday. Novak made a 20-yard field goal and 3 extra points in the win.

The Chargers are now 4-3 showed little, while Jacksonville falls to 0-7. The Jaguars have lost every game this season by double digits, becoming the first team since the 1984 Houston Oilers to do that.
