The US Olympic equestrian team for the upcoming Games in London will include local rider Will Coleman and his horse Twizzel.
Coleman and Twizzel, a 16-year-old Westphalian gelding, are among five teams to earn spots on Team USA. They were named to the US Equestrian Foundation's Short List for the Olympic team last month, then clinched a spot with a strong performance at last week's Barbury International Horse Trials in England.
"I still see this whole process as a journey that is far from complete," Coleman posted on his official website. "Selection is but another step forward, but it is in no way an end goal. I want to bring the absolute best out of my horse and myself in three weeks time, and I will commit to a process that will hopefully do just that."
The Olympic eventing competition begins on July 28 at Greenwich Park in London.
