The Charlottesville-based Broncos finished the 2011 Pop Warner Pee Wee football season with a perfect 9-0 record after claiming the Mid-South Regional Championship on Saturday. The Broncos defeated Coul Oak Little Panthers (Charlotte, N.C.) 25-12 in the championship game in Raleigh, N.C.
The Broncos, made of up 9, 10, 11 and 12-year-olds from Monticello, finished the season a perfect 9-0. They did not allow a point-scored until the regional semifinal when they defeated the Jacksonville Storm 22-14. The 12 points allowed in the final game to Coul Oak were two defensive touchdowns.
The pee wee stars are coached by Greg Huffman and won the local Pop Warner super bowl on October 30, 2011. They defeated the Chiefs of Western Albemarle 31-0.
