Albemarle senior Ryan Londree is ready to start a new journey as a member of the Old Dominion football team, just as the Monarchs are starting a new chapter of their own.
"I've been looking forward to this a lot," Londree says of officially signing on to play ODU football. "I never expected this to happen in my life, it's just a blessing. I'm just ready to start this new journey. I'm just looking forward to going to school and meeting new people, getting a good education and just playing D-I football."
This fall, ODU will complete the transition to FBS-level football, when the Monarchs begin play as a member of Conference USA. For the all-region lineman who signed his letter of intent on Wednesday, that was only part of what made him choose Old Dominion.
"I just like how the campus was set up, and I like how the coaches brought me in already and they thought I was like family," he says. "I just felt right at home when I went to visit."
Londree says he liked ODU so much on his visit that he didn't really consider any other schools. While he felt right at home on campus, the school's proximity to where he grew up was also a positive.
"It's right at home, right in the backyard," he said. "It's a good academic school and just close to home."
