Army pitcher Gunnar Carroll will get a chance to face some of the best hitters in college baseball this summer.
Carroll, an alum of Louisa County High School, is on the opening day roster for the Cape Cod League's Harwich Mariners. The Cape is considered the top summer league destination for college baseball players.
Carroll is coming off a 3-4 season for Army, finishing the year with a 6.02 ERA and a team-high four saves.
His final numbers were inflated by a rough outing in Army's season-ending loss to UNC-Wilmington in the NCAA's Charlottesville Regional. Carroll was touched for four runs (three earned) and six hits in just two innings out of the bullpen.
