Meeks Leaving Louisa for Brookville

Louisa County High School needs a new head football coach.

Brookville High School principal Tom Cole announced Tuesday morning that the school has hired Jon Meeks as its new head football coach. Meeks, a Lynchburg native, had spent more than a decade at Louisa, including the last three years as head coach of the Lions.

"We welcome Coach Meeks and his family back to the area and look forward to his leadership in continuing the tradition of excellence in the Brookville High School Football Program," Cole said in an email announcing the hire.

Meeks went 14-17 in his three seasons as head coach at Louisa, including a 3-7 record in 2013. The Lions made one postseason appearance in his tenure, reaching the second round of the Region II playoffs in 2011.

At Brookville, Meeks takes over for Marshall Schmitt, who went 5-6 in his lone season as head coach of the Bees. Prior to last season, the Bees had won back-to-back AA state titles under Jeff Woody, who made a move to Monticello High School in 2013.
