Redskins training camp opens three weeks from Thursday in Richmond. And former Virginia cornerback Chase Minnifield sounds like a guy who is ready to get to work.
“I’m back, I’m cleared, I’m good," Minnifield recently told the team's website.
Minnifield is working his way back from a pair of knee injuries. The first ended his UVa career a game short, and caused him to go unpicked in the 2011 NFL Draft. The second came last summer, after he had signed as an undrafted free agent with the Redskins.
Minnifield spent his entire rookie season on Injured Reserve. He talked to the team's website about making the most of his lost rookie year by working hard in the film room.
“It was good; it wasn’t as hard for me to get to know everything,” Minnifield said. "I’m grasping it pretty easily right now. So it was good. It wasn’t a wasted year if you ask me.
“I think I can help the team win if I’m ready, and I think I am ready.”
