Mitchell Headed to Houston As Undrafted Free Agent

Former Virginia basketball player Akil Mitchell will join the Houston Rockets this summer, hoping to make the team as an undrafted free agent. Mitchell was not selected in Thursday's NBA draft but tweeted on Friday that he was headed to Houston.

Mitchell tweeted "Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and best wishes for the draft! Can't wait to get down to Houston and get to work!"

Mitchell started 87 games during his career at UVa, averaging 6.9 points and 6 rebounds a game.

The Rockets will be in both the Orlando and Las Vegas summer leagues this year. The games in Orlando run from July 5-11, while Las Vegas follows from July 11-21.
