One to three inches of snow is expected to fall in the region on Tuesday, so several area high school teams decided to get their action in on Monday night. The evening saw many close games throughout the area.

In boys action, Fluvanna held onto first place in the Jefferson District, but needed a free throw to do so, sneaking by William Monroe, 52-51. This contest was back and forth throughout the night, but the Flucos were able to hold on and improve to 11-1 on the season, 5-1 in district play.

Monticello and Orange moved their game up to Monday, with Orange emerging victorious, 74-66. Orange is now 4-1 in district play and 10-2 overall. The Mustangs lost their second straight game and fall to 3-4 in district action.

Louisa ventured out of the Jefferson District and hit the road to Powhatan, where the Lions roared to a 71-38 win. Anthony Hunter led the charge with 25 points, 5 assists and three steals. Allen White chipped in 14 for the Lions.

Girls action saw William Monroe hold off a late Fluvanna charge to claim a 42-39 win. Alexa Smith led the Dragons with 15 points, while Alex Cave added 12. William Monroe improves to 16-2, 8-1 in district play.

Monticello ended the game on a 11-0 run to top Orange, 50-37. Both teams are now 2-4 in the Jefferson District.
