The Golf Coaches Association of America announced today that Virginia men’s golfer Denny McCarthy has been named a second-team PING All-American. It's the second All-America honor for the rising Cavalier senior this week, as Golfweek previously named him a second-team All-American.
McCarthy finished his junior year with a 70.38 stroke average and he was ranked No. 8 in the final Golfstat individual rankings. He was the runner-up at the ACC Championships and placed sixth at the NCAA Columbia Regional. He also finished in sixth place at the NCAA Championships.
Earlier this year McCarthy was named to the PING All-East Region squad and the Virginia Sports Information Director’s Golfer the Year. He was also an All-ACC selection.
