No. 20 Virginia Holds Off BC For Sixth Straight Win

The Virginia basketball team is back in the national rankings this week and Wednesday the Cavaliers showed why.

The No. 20 'Hoos survived a late Boston College rally and improved to 9-1 in the ACC with a 77-67 win at John Paul Jones Arena.

It was Virginia's sixth win in a row and 14th straight ACC victory at home, a streak that dates back to March 2012. The 9-1 league record is the program's best since the 1981-1982 season.

The Cavaliers led by as much as 20 in the second half but the Eagles clawed their way back, getting the lead down to six with under a minute left in regulation. Virginia then nailed free throws down the stretch to escape with the win.

Malcolm Brogdon led UVa with 17 points and 11 rebounds as they opened with a 15-0 run over the game's first 10-plus minutes.

Anthony Gill and Justin Anderson each added 13 points for UVa, while Joe Harris and Evan Nolte finished with nine points apiece.

Virginia is back in action Saturday when it visits Georgia Tech.
