Former Virginia guard Paul Jesperson took to his Twitter account Saturday night to announce his decision to enroll at Northern Iowa. He chose the Panthers over Southern California.
Jesperson, a rising junior who averaged 3.5 points-per-game in 56 career appearances, played in all 35 games for the Cavaliers last season, including 33 starts. He averaged 4.7 points in 25.7 minutes as a sophomore, including a career high 12 points in Virginia's win at Maryland in February.
Jesperson arrived at Virginia as the reigning state player of the year in Wisconsin. He sat the first 11 games of his freshman season -- the original plan was for Jesperson to redshirt -- before the departures of James Johnson and KT Harrell forced Jesperson into the rotation. He played in the Cavaliers' final 21 games of the season, averaging 1.5 points in 10.5 minutes off the bench.
