These days, many people know Anthony Poindexter as an excitable, animated assistant on Mike London's coaching staff.
Some even remember him from his time on the field as a Cavalier, where he was a two-time All-American at safety.
But before all that, Poindexter was a three-sport star at Jefferson Forest High School in Lynchburg.
Those exploits have made him the newest member of the Virginia High School Hall of Fame Class of 2013, the VHSL announced Thursday.
He was the 1993 Associated Press Group AA Player of the Year in football and earned first-team all-state honors in baseball as well.
He continued his playing career at Virginia where he was a two-time All-American and 1998 ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held October 14th at the Doubletree Hotel in Charlottesville.
