Post 74's First Loss Comes on Hit Batter

The undefeated run for the American Legion baseball team from Albemarle Post 74 came on a hit batter in the bottom of the ninth inning of a Southeast Regional Tournament game.

Nic Parsons hit Weston Bailey with the bases loaded to force in the winning run, giving the team from Florence, South Carolina a 6-5 win Friday night. Florence advances in winner's bracket play, while Post 74 will face elimination at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon against the team from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

With Friday's the loss, Post 74 falls to 25-1 on the season.

Albemarle was out-hit 14-5 Friday night, with five different South Carolina players having at least two hits. Post 74 scored two of their runs on wild pitches, and another on an error.
