Recruit Decommits from Penn State, Switches to Cavs

Posted: Tue 7:45 PM, Aug 07, 2012

Maryland high school senior Zach Bradshaw has decommited from Penn State to become the 17th member of Virginia's recruiting class of 2013.

Bradshaw informed Virginia coaches of his decision during a visit on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. Bradshaw notified Penn State coaches of his decision to decommit earlier Tuesday.

Bradshaw's father told ESPN.com on Tuesday that the sanctions against the Penn State program prompted his son's decision.

"With the loss of scholarships, PSU will be competing in the Big Ten against some of the best teams in the country with 65 scholarship players," Mike Bradshaw said. "The class Zach would be a part of would really bear the brunt of the sanctions."

Bradshaw is regarded as a three-star prospect by the four major recruiting websites. Rivals and ESPN both classify Bradshaw as a wide receiver, while Scout considers him an outside linebacker, and 247Sports lists him as an athlete.

Penn State had been recruiting Bradshaw as a wide receiver.
