RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Nick Barnett is a London Fletcher Insurance Policy.
The veteran linebacker joined the Washington Redskins for practice Thursday, one day after agreeing to a one-year deal. The 32-year-old will back up the 38-year-old Fletcher.
Barnett is essentially replacing second-year player Keenan Robinson. Robinson is being groomed as Fletcher's eventual successor, but he tore his left pectoral muscle on the opening day of training camp.
Barnett has been through his share of injuries in recent years and had knee surgery this year, but he says: "I'm going to ride it until the wheels fall off - until they tell me I can't play no more."
