UPDATE: Lazor Leaving UVa for NFL Job

Virginia has confirmed the resignation of offensive coordinator Bill Lazor to take a job with an NFL team.

Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com broke the news of Lazor's departure on Tuesday morning. According to Feldman's report, Lazor is leaving for a spot on the staff of new Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly.

Lazor, a Scranton, Pa. native, had spent the past three seasons as Mike London's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Lazro's unit went from ranked No. 57 in the country in total offense in 2010 to No. 44 in 2011, but dropped to No. 81 in 2012.

“I appreciate Bill Lazor’s time here as a member of my staff,” London said in a release Tuesday afternoon. "We are now wrapping up our recruiting and starting our preparation for the 2013 season. We will move quickly to find a new offensive coordinator to keep the program moving forward.”

Lazor spent the previous seven seasons as an NFL assistant before joining London's staff at Virginia. He had stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Washinton Redskins, and Seattle Seahawks. Lazor was also a candidate for the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator vacancy last off-season.

Lazor is the latest departure from a staff that had remained unchanged during London's first three seasons as Virginia coach. Following a 4-8 season in 2012, defensive coordinator Jim Reid was among four coaches fired by the Cavaliers. New staff additions include associate head coach Tom O'Brien and defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta.
