Former Virginia pitcher Whit Mayberry has reportedly signed his professional contract with the Detroit Tigers organization.
While the team hasn't announced the move, Tigers' beat writer for The Oakland Press Matthew Mowery tweeted on Tuesday that the Tigers announced signings of both Mayberry and his UVa teammate Artie Lewicki.
Mayberry becomes the eighth and final Cavalier to sign a contract with his club after being selected in the 2014 MLB Draft.
In his senior season with UVa, Mayberry appeared in 30 games with one start. He finished the season with a 6-1 record and a 1.60 ERA. In total, Mayberry played in 87 games for the 'Hoos during his five-year career, finishing with 173 strikeouts and a 2.95 ERA.
