Rocha Announced as New Coach at Monroe

William Monroe High School is staying in-house to fill its vacant head coaching position.

"Congratulations to Jon Rocha on being named the new head coach for WMHS Football!" the school announced on Twitter Wednesday night. Rocha had served as an assistant under Mark Sanford, who stepped down in February.

The Greene Dragons are coming off a 3-8 season in 2013 that ended with a 41-12 loss at Loudoun Valley in the first round of the Region 3A East playoffs. All three of Monroe's wins came against Bull Run District opponents.

Sanford went 14-38 in five seasons as head coach at Monroe. His 2011 team won seven games during the regular season, and ended the program's 20-year postseason drought.
