Former 'Hoo Roger Mason Jr. Signs With Heat

Just days before the opening of training camp, the NBA champion Miami Heat have signed former UVa guard Roger Mason Jr. to a non-guaranteed contract.

Mason Jr. tweeted the news Friday afternoon, saying "I'm humbled and extremely blessed to have signed with the World Champion @MiamiHEAT!!! Can't wait to get to work! Let's go!!! #HeatNation."

Mason Jr. has played 493 career games for a total of seven NBA teams. He spent 2012-2013 with the New Orleans Hornets and 2011-2012 with the Washington Wizards. During his NBA career, Mason Jr. has averaged 6.5 points, 1.3 assists, and 1.8 rebounds per game.

The former Cavalier played at Virginia from 1999-2002 and was drafted 31st overall by the Chicago Bulls in 2002.
