STAB Seniors Sign Letters of Intent

Allie Nicholson has been a volleyball player throughout her high school career, and she expected to keep playing that sport at the college level.

But on Friday, the senior at St. Anne's-Belfield School signed her letter of intent to join the defending national champion rowing team at Virginia.

"I'm just so excited. They're an amazing program, amazing facilities, amazing coach. I'm just really, really excited about it," Nicholson said Friday.

Nicholson admits joining the defending national champions is an intimidating opportunity, especially since she's never competed as a rower. Nicholson was recruited by some Division III programs to play volleyball, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to attend Virginia.

"It's every senior's dream to know where they want to go to college, and to be able to go where they want to go," she said. "So I'm just really excited I get to go where I want to go."

Nicholson was one of three STAB seniors who signed letters of intent at a brief ceremony Friday morning. Childhood friends Miles Davis and Will Eppard will both continue their lacrosse careers in college.

Davis signed with Division-I St. Joseph's in Philadelphia on Friday. As a junior, Davis scored 34 goals and racked up 34 assists, helping STAB win a Prep League title.

Davis picked St. Joseph's over Hobart, Mount Saint Mary's, Sacred Heart, and Robert Morris.

"It's a big thing to think about when you're 17 years old," he said. "It was hard, definitely the hardest decision I've had to make in my life, but hopefully it'll work out."

Eppard, a defenseman, will attend Stevenson next season. The Mustangs are coming off a Division III Final Four appearance last spring.

"I really felt at home there," Eppard said. "I really like the Baltimore area. And once I got up there and got on the campus, the facilities blew me away. And I met with the coaches, and they're all great guys. There's a lot of enthusiasm."
