With the remnants of Hurricane Sandy forcing schools to close again on Tuesday, the playoff schedule for teams in central Virginia is also being shuffled.
The Jefferson District has postponed Tuesday night's volleyball semifinals at Powhatan until Wednesday. Top seed Western Albemarle will face the host Indians in the first semifinal match at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by the second match between Fluvanna and Monticello. The district championship is still scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, also at Powhatan.
Western Albemarle's Region II field hockey semifinal at home against Fauquier has been postponed to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Charlottesville will face Kettle Run at Liberty (Bealeton), also at 5:30 p.m.
The Commonwealth District volleyball semifinals -- including undefeated Albemarle hosting Massaponax at 6 p.m. -- have also been moved to Wednesday. If the Patriots advance, they will host the district championship at 6 p.m. Thursday.
