Virginia freshman Mac Styslinger advanced in the qualifying rounds of the USTA Men's Charlottesville Challenger at the Boar's Head Sports Club, beating Carsten Ball 6-3, 7-6(2) on Sunday.
Styslinger will play Monday in the final round of qualifying against Jeff Dadamo, and is one win away from qualifying for the main draw.
Former Cavalier Sanam Singh fell to Edward Corrie of Great Britain, 6-4, 6-1.
Virginia student and Boar's Head pro Brendan Evans was also defeated on day two, losing 7-6(4), 6-4 to Devin Britton.
Play continues Monday at 10 a.m with the final round of qualifying matches. Main Draw play is scheduled to begin at around 1 p.m. Admission to the tournament is free.
