Team USA Uses Second Half Run to Pull Away

For two-plus quarters, the FIBA U19 World championship team from Brazil was able to hang with the unbeaten US team.

Team USA only led Monday's game by six at the half, and Brazil was able to get within four early in the third quarter. But the Americans used an 18-0 run to pull away for a 91-66 win, and improve to 4-0 in the tournament.

Duke guard Rasheed Sulaimon led the US team with 15 points, all coming on three-pointers. Sulaimon shot 5-of-9 from behind the three-point line, including two key three-pointers during the run that put the game out of reach.

Brazil's defensive gameplan focused on slowing the Americans' inside game, neutralizing players like Virginia sophomore Mike Tobey. Tobey only played a team-low six minutes off the bench, going scoreless -- he didn't even attempt a shot -- and pulling down three rebounds.

Team USA continues the second round of group play on Tuesday against Australia., then play Serbia on Wednesday.
