Jalen Harrison is a three-sport star at Fluvanna County but this summer he's shining on the baseball diamond.
The junior is a part of the Virginia Knights' travel team. Miller School Head Coach and former MLB star Billy Wagner is an assistant coach with the Knights.
Playing in the summer allows Harrison to play the sport he loves with his good friends.
"I'm loving it," he explained. "Baseball's my favorite sport so it's just what I like to do. It's fun being with my friends"
The Knights have been up and down the east coast this summer, playing in tournaments and showcases from North Carolina to Georgia.
"It makes you really really good," Harrison said. "Because when you come back and play school ball, there's some really, really good pitchers in travel ball and me coming to school ball, you've seen everything in travel. So it really helps you in school ball. Then the next year you play, you're used to it."
Another advantage of travel ball is the exposure to college coaches it gives players like Harrison.
"There have been a lot of college coaches there and pretty much everybody on my team are getting looks because everyone on my team is good and they play really hard," he explained.
Harrison says he's getting interest from some Division I schools who like his range and athleticism in centerfield.
