UVA MEDIA DAY: 'Hoos Like Tough 2013 Schedule

On August 31 -- four weeks from this Saturday -- the Virginia football team will open its 2013 schedule against BYU at Scott Stadium.

A week later the Cavaliers will host Oregon, who was ranked third in the country in the preseason coaches poll released on Thursday.

"Playing against the best. That's how it should be," UVa sophomore defensive end Eli Harold said at Friday's media day."

"I call them "money games." Those are games that you want to have on your schedule. They're games that you look forward to," said senior wide receiver Tim Smith. "That's something that you want as a college football player, to play some of the top colleges in the country."

The Cavaliers will a total of eight games at home in 2013. The schedule also includes ACC preseason favorite Clemson -- ranked eighth in the country in the coaches poll -- plus Coastal Division rivals Duke, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech.

"What ran through my mind was just the opportunity. Playing big-scale teams like this, you've got a lot of people watching," said junior linebacker Daquan Romero. "And that's just a great opportunity for us to reveal to the world what we can do."

Non-conference games against VMI and Ball State round out the home schedule.

"I don't think you should expect less out of your opponent. You should take everyone the same," said Harold. "And like I've said, I don't care if we're playing the San Francisco 49ers. I'm going to give it all I've got."
