The Virginia baseball team will have to wait an extra day to open its conference schedule at Davenport Field.
The team announced via Twitter Thursday night that Friday's ACC opener against Maryland had been postponed because of field conditions. The two teams will now play a double-header on Saturday, with game times to be announced on Friday.
Virginia takes a 12-0 record into the three-game weekend series. The Cavaliers were supposed to host VMI on Wednesday, but that game was postponed because of the snow that fell on central Virginia.
Freshman lefty Brandon Waddell was scheduled to start Friday's game for the Cavaliers. He's 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA in three starts this season. Senior lefty Scott Silverstein and sophomore right-hander Nick Howard are scheduled to be the Cavaliers' weekend starters.
