After missing The Virginia men's lacrosse team is headed to the 2014 NCAA Tournament as the No. 8 seed in the field. The Cavaliers will host Johns Hopkins in the first round on Sunday, May 11 at 1 p.m., at Klöckner Stadium.
UVa enters the NCAA Tournament with 10-5 record in the regular season. Johns Hopkins earned an at-large berth and enters the NCAA Tournament with a 10-4 record.
The winner of the Virginia-Johns Hopkins first round game will meet the winner of Sunday’s first round game between the Air Force-Richmond winner and Duke, the No. 1 seed, in the NCAA quarterfinals. The quarterfinal game will be held at Delaware Stadium, in Newark, Del., on Sunday, May 18.
Sunday’s game will be the 15th time in NCAA Tournament history UVa and Johns Hopkins have met. No two teams have faced each other more in the tournament than the Cavaliers and Blue Jays. Johns Hopkins holds an 8-6 advantage over UVa in NCAA Tournament action, but the Cavaliers have won four of the last five meetings in the tournament.
The Cavaliers defeated the Blue Jays met during the 2014 regular season. Virginia won that game 11-10 in overtime on March 22 at Klockner Stadium.
