The Virginia volleyball team swept Wake Forest, 27-25, 25-10 and 25-20, Saturday night in Winston-Salem, N.C. It was the first conference road win for the Cavaliers since Oct. 15, 2011.
“It was good to get the monkey off our backs, because we hadn’t won a conference road game in almost two years,” UVa head coach Dennis Hohenshelt said. “Anytime we can get on the bus back from the Carolinas with a win is a good day and we’ll look to channel this momentum going into next weekend at Maryland and Pitt.”
Junior Tori Janowski served up four aces, while also earning a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Freshman Haley Kole hit .300 with 12 kills, while classmate Karlie Suber tallied three service aces.
The Cavaliers continue their road swing with matches at Maryland (Oct. 4) and Pittsburgh (Oct. 5) next weekend.
