There was little drama in the football offices on grounds at Virginia on National Signing Day this year.

Most of the 25 players who signed National Letters of Intent with the Cavaliers on Wednesday gave their initial commitments to UVa coaches during a three-month span last summer.

And those recruits held true to their word on Wednesday.

"The message was true and consistent," coach Mike London said at his signing day news conference. "And obviously it helped, with the winning, and the opportunities for postseason play. So I'm excited about this class, and looking forward to them coming here in the fall."

Recruiting websites Rivals.com and Scout.com both rated London's recruiting haul as the No. 27 class in the country, and fifth-best in the ACC. Another recruiting site, 247Sports.com, placed the Cavaliers' class 20th in the country and third in the conference.

"These guys like each other. And they knew each other, early on. Stayed in contact with each other early on," London said. "And so, when you get down to the end, a lot of them said, 'I'm coming.'"

The mostly highly-regarded member of UVa's Class of 2012 is defensive end Eli Harold, from Ocean Lakes H.S. in Virginia Beach. The 6-4, 215 lb. Harold is rated a five-star prospect by both Scout and 247Sports. Rivals ranked Harold as the top senior prospect in the state of Virginia.

London also called Harold "the best cheerleader" in the incoming class, with his impact on fellow recruits.

"Let's face it. Players recruit other players," London explained. "We like to think sometimes stadium size, amount of bowl rings and games, and things like that. Good players recruit other good players."

Harold is one of 10 incoming Cavaliers from the Tidewater area. The class also includes a quartet of high school teammates from Norfolk Christian -- linebacker Kwontie Moore, receiver Mario Nixon, athlete Wil Wahee and defensive end Courtnye Wynn.

"That area is an area that, there are deep-rooted relationships that cover years and years," said London, a Tidewater-area native. "And although we're always excited about getting some of the best players in the state of Virginia - wherever it may be - you can't ignore the fact that there are prior relationships down there that have helped us in that area."

Moore also ranks among the most highly-regarded of Virginia's recruits, receiving a four-star rating from ESPN, Rivals, and Scout. All three recruiting websites also gave four stars to Maryland defensive end Michael Moore, the son of former Cavalier quarterback and current assistant coach Shawn Moore.

But when asked on Wednesday if he expected any incoming first-years to make an impact similar to that of rising sophomore defensive back Tre Nicholson -- who started all 13 games for the Cavaliers last year -- London said it was too soon to tell.

"Sometimes, when you're rushing against Oday Aboushi or Morgan Moses, it might be a different story," he said. "So we'll see, early on in late summer and into early August, about who's ready to play."

The list of players joining the Cavaliers on Wednesday does not include Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert. A four-star recruit according to Scout, the 6-5, 215 lb. Lambert already enrolled at Virginia in January, and will take part in spring practices next month.
